In 1971, the Angels sent Jim Fregosi to the New York Mets for four players, among them future Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan.  Ryan would start nearly 300 games for the Angles and amass 2,416 strike outs during his time there.  Leroy Stanton, another part of the trade, was drafted by the Mariners in the fourth round of the 1976 Expansion Draft.
