This is the second combined tree (see the first here).  It’s very crowded, so I suggest you click through to view it at a larger size.  Any players connected from left-to-right were in the same trade, and any players connected top-to-bottom were traded for each other.

In two instances, I was able to combine trade trees due to common links.  Here is the first such example (second).  In these two instances, I’ve colored any member of the 1997 Marlins in black.  It seemed appropriate, and helps discern who is who in this jumble.

John Cangelosi is the last player from the 1997 Marlins to be featured here.  Cangelosi spent one more year with the Marlins before being granted free agency.  He would appear in 7 games for the Rockies in 1999, his last in the major leagues.

Second baseman Kurt Abbott had only 3 AB during the 1997 World Series.  He was traded to Oakland for Eric Ludwick, who would later be taken by the Tigers in the 1998 minor league draft (now called the Rule V draft).  Abbott would join his Marlins teammate Dennis Cook on the 2000 NL Champion Mets

Dennis Cook had a MLB career that spanned 12 seasons.  Cook was traded to the Mets in 1998, and would appear in the Subway Series with them against the Yankees in 2000.

Gregg Zaun was traded to the Texas Rangers on a conditional deal.  The deal was contingent on his making the club out of Spring Training.  Zaun appeared in 43 games for the Rangers as Ivan Rodriguez’ backup.  No information was readily available as to the Marlins’ compensation, but one article mentioned the possibility of cash or a PTBNL.  No player could be found, so cash was assumed to be the outcome.

Ed Vosberg made his MLB debut in 1986, appearing in 5 games.  However, his next stint would come in 1990, but only for 18 games..  After another 4 years in the minors, Vosberg was back in the majors.  Vosberg was traded the same day as Conine.  There is some mixed information I couldn’t untangle regarding Chris Clark.  Here are his Baseball Reference and Baseball Cube pages.  Any help would be appreciated.  The fact his name is quite common has made it difficult to sort through search results as well.

Tony Saunders was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with the first overall pick in the 1997 Expansion Draft.  Saunders would break his arm mid-pitch two years later.  A subsequent break in a rehab start forced Saunders into retirement after only 3 big league seasons.

Craig Counsell was traded in June, 1999 for a PTBNL.  That player was Ryan Moskau, who never made the major leagues.

Darren Daulton was traded to the Marlins at the beginning of the 1997 season, having spent 12 years with the Phillies.  Daulton was granted free agency and retired after the World Series.
