Jimmie Foxx was traded from the Philadelphia A’s to the Red Sox in 1935 after 11 seasons in Philly. During his time there, Foxx won the Triple Crown in 1933 and two MVP Awards (1932 & 1933). Foxx would win one more MVP while in Boston.
Gordon Rhodes lost 20 games in 1936, his last year in the league and only year in Philly. George Savino never left the minors. In 1937, Savino was traded for Crouse in a minor league deal. Crouse played 8 seasons in the major leagues with the White Sox (1923-30), but never saw the majors again. In terms of 2009 dollars, $150,000 is approximately $2.4 Million. Foxx played 10 more MLB seasons after the trade.
